For some owners, it is financially beneficial to rent out their units and pay to stay in a hotel or another unit when they visit Fernie!

Heidi Berry, Fernie Real Estate’s Property Manager, confirms this, “some of our owners are from the UK and can only make it out to Fernie for a couple of weeks once or twice a year. For them, the most important thing is knowing that their costs are covered by rent. When they come to Fernie to play, they’re happy to spend some of that rental income on accommodation! They’re watching the value of their property going up and up!”

Another option for owners is to rent on a seasonal basis renting out their property for 4-6 months. For those owners who have hung up their skis and snowshoes, the decision to lease their property on a seasonal basis makes perfect sense – income is generated during the winter months leaving them free to enjoy Fernie in their own home for the whole of the summer.
